The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The EYFS covers children from birth to the end of their first year in school. In our Reception classes we follow the guidance of the EYFS. All children have a gradual induction into school. We provide a learning environment that is stimulating, motivating and fun.
Children learn through play, both adult-directed and child-led. We plan play opportunities in the six curriculum areas of learning and development, which have equal weighting.
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Each week we have some regular activities:
- Weekly Walk
- Show and Tell
- Finding out Friday
- Toy Tuesday/Thursday Playtimes
- Maisy and Headteacher's assembly (Maisie - the school puppet)
- PE
